Class D surge arresters, which you can find in the unit price schedule under the category of panel-type overvoltage protectors or low-voltage surge arresters with the old item number 718.560 and the new item number 35.115.2100, are sensitive protection products designed for specific devices.

They are preferred to counter the possibility of surges reaching a device, which Class B and C surge arresters have attempted to block from entering the building.

Due to their device-specific applications, 2-pole versions are the most commonly preferred. They are required to have a nominal discharge current of 3kA and a maximum discharge current of 5kA at a 1kV voltage impulse.
