There are types for high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage. We will examine the Low Voltage (LV) type.

LV surge arresters are used as Class B, C, and D according to their functions. Since this device has only recently become widely known, it is often misunderstood as providing protection against overvoltages. However, they do not reduce any overvoltage occurring on the system to nominal levels, nor do they intervene at all in that regard. Their primary function is to fulfill protection by transmitting excessive currents to the ground. The types are:

Class B Surge Arrester

Used before the meter of any structure, it transmits instantaneous current impulses up to 125kA to the ground and prevents them from entering the system. Its sensitivity is lower compared to Class C and D. It requires a high-quality grounding system.

Class C Surge Arrester

Installed in the panel after the meter, it transmits instantaneous current impulses up to 20kA to the ground. Its sensitivity is lower than Class D. It also requires a high-quality grounding system.

Class D Surge Arrester

Applied to systems requiring higher sensitivity than Class B and C to directly protect sensitive equipment. It requires an excellent grounding system.

In summary, surge arresters are the electrical system equivalent of lightning rods (paratoners) used to prevent lightning from striking a building directly. Just as a lightning rod conducts the lightning strike outside the building to the ground without regulating the voltage level, a surge arrester conducts the lightning strike that enters the internal electrical system to the ground without regulating the overvoltage formed between the two ends of the conductor.

As in the case of lightning, there is both current and voltage wherever there is electricity. Surge arresters are used to block excessive currents; however, if you also wish to block overvoltages, Trimbox is used. This is because the overvoltage formed between the two ends of the system cannot be blocked by a surge arrester, which leads to the burning of devices in the system.

In a system utilizing Trimbox new generation surge arresters, the damages of overvoltage are prevented. Furthermore, there is no need for any other LV surge arrester.

Simple precautions sometimes save lives. The best investment we can make for our family, our business, and our environment is protective measures. With Trimbox and GNDSeries, you can be protected from electricity-related damages and resulting electrical contact fires.

Whatsapp : +90 555 014 24 23

WHAT IS A SURGE ARRESTER (PARAFUDR)?
